History Post 2326 was granted a Charter under the name of Sgt. Alvin Jonker, who was killed on October 9, 1918. Charter was dated January 9, 1932 with 35 members listed. George Olson was elected the first commander. Members met at different locations until they bought a house at 421 Fulton St. in Grand Haven. The present clubhouse was built and dedicated in 1956. The Honor Guard was formed in 1956 and provides funeral rites at Veterans services. The Dad Post 142 was founded in 1953 with 32 charter members. The Ladies Auxiliary was chartered in 1955 with 22 charter members. The Ritual Team was formed in 1999 and has attended over 100 funerals and other functions since inception. The men's Auxiliary was formed in 2003 with 31 charter members. |
