Coast Guard Week- July 31-August 8, 2010-in conjuction with the Coast Guard Festival Committee and WGHN
Saturday July 31, 5:30-9 p.m. –The VFW is hosting a chicken and ribs dinner at the VFW before the waterfront performance of ABBA MANIA. If you attend the VFW dinner , a $10 pay per head event, and are a current service member, then you will be admitted free of charge to ABBAMANIA immediately following the dinner. Also as a current military member, after ABBA MANIA, you can return to the VFW for the rock band SOULD OUT (free entry if you purchased the dinner) and continue enjoying beverages with friends and dancing to SOULD OUT. All others will be charged a $3 cover.
Thursday August 5-beginning at 3 p.m.– Welcome to our visiting Coast Guard SPORTS TEAMS and the CANADIAN Coast Guard! Before and after the HANGING ON concert, current military members, our Canadian guests, and the public are welcome to the pay as you go food and beverage. Music and DJ provided by WGHN for the evening! (No cove charge)
Friday August 6th–Starting at 5 p.m. –Welcome to the Salute to Heroes night at the VFW. The VFW Mens Auxiliary will be roasting a Pig with all the trimmings. $8 children under 8, $5. After the USO show all those purchasing the Pig Roast Diner, Coast Guard active and retired are welcomed free of charge at the VFW to a live band, Sweet Justice, (a $3 cover charge required for all others).
Saturday August 7 from 8-11 AM - Ladies Auxiliary All you Can Eat Breakfast - Pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage, hash browns, coffee, juice. $7, children 4 and under Free.
Beginning at Noon– VFW Ribfest Competitor "Jus Ribs" will be cooking BBQ in the VFW Grill House. So come on down and enjoy Food, Fun, Refreshments all day. A great place to relax between downtown events. Music til the fire works display, then come back and relax til the traffic clears out.
